Jeeze (Five Letter Word Film)
2019
Jeeze (Five Letter Word Film) is an16 mm experimental analog film animation, using a laser cutter.
Jeeze came about as an experiment of mixing a digital medium with an analog. “Film is an anarchist!” my teacher used to tell me. Although it has this stubborn and slippery quality it is also very sensitive and much like skin. The harsh quality of the machine (the laser cutter) made a distinct mark on it.
Looking at the finished film you see these five letter words flashing by barely giving the viewer the chance to think of them. The viewer is forced into a rhythm and the melody of the many “z”. Hypnotically, or like a dream, it produces this odd arrangement of words.
